Abstract:  The Ph.D. Forum at the Design Automation Conference is a poster session hosted by ACM SIGDA for Ph.D. students to present and discuss their dissertation research with people in the EDA community. It has become one of the premier forums for Ph.D. students in design automation to get feedback on their research. It enables the industry and other academicians to see latest top academic work and have access to best graduating students in one place. Participation in the forum is through a scientific evaluation by an expert committee consisting of academia and industry. Program committee can be found at the link above. The forum is open to all members of the design automation community and is free-of-charge. It is virtually co-located with DAC; DAC registration is not required in order to attend this event.

Attendance instructions for last minute registrations:

------------------

Hello DAC PhD Forum Attendee,

Hopefully you are all ready to attend and interact about the PhD Forum posters. The sessions are listed on this page: https://www.sigda.org/sigda-events/phd-forum-cfp/

Each session will start on its own time and has a different web meeting (a Webex or Zoom meeting) link. Meanwhile, posters are all held at the same Gathertown link but in different rooms. (Gathertown is a new platform where you control your character as in a video game, walk around, and interact with real people.) Interaction with poster presenters are through chat only (either public or direct chat) at the web meeting, but you can have video and microphone-enabled one on one interactions with them on Gathertown. You can find posters in one of the top three rooms (room and session numbers are same).

Web meeting will take around half an hour and consists of 3 minute pitches of each poster for you to get a high-level overview; it is supposed to be a magnet for a more detailed in-person discussion with the presenter on Gathertown. It is OK for attendees to skip the web meeting and head to Gathertown directly. Meanwhile, everyone will head to Gathertown in the second half of the hour. In Gathertown, please walk around and talk to presenters.

In front of a poster is where you can have one on one video and microphone interaction. Please keep you camera on as it provides a more natural way of communicating. You can press the “x” button to view a poster in more detail. There is also a zoom feature built in.

See you soon.
