2018 CIE/USA-DFW Young Achiever Award Application
This award is designed to recognize students with an excellent academic record, strong interest in STEM, active community services and extra-curricular involvement. A qualified applicant must:

1) Be a 10th or 11th grade student in a DFW area school during Spring 2018 semester
2) Be in the top 10% of current school academic score ranking
3) Be a dependent child of a lifetime member within CIE/USA-DFW Chapter. (for membership, see: http://www.cie-dfw.org/members/memberinformation.php).
4) Has not won Young Achiever Award before
5) Participate in a 10 minute interview session with the YAA judges to be held on July 21, 2018, between 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM. The location and time slot for the candidate's interview will be communicated prior to July 15, 2018.
6) It is a requirement to be present at the CIE Annual Convention banquet for the YAA award ceremony to receive the award on Saturday, August 18th, 2018 at Renaissance Hotel in Richardson, Texas.
7) YAA award winners are expected to participate in at least two YAA sponsor company hosted events within the next 12 months. These are excellent growth opportunities for YAA awardees.
8) YAA award winners will become part of an active alumni group with which they are encouraged to participate including volunteering in CIE events.

In order to successfully apply, the following items must be done:

1) Fill out the application below
2) Write a one-page biography that best describes you academic achievement, strong interest in engineering, active community services, extracurricular activities and personal aspiration.
3) Official High School Transcript. An official transcript includes the school's official sealed or a school officer signed your class rank, class size and high school coursework. The transcript should show coursework and rank up to 2017 fall semester. Also, provide the 2018 spring semester grades as well. If the latest transcript can't be obtained, please add a statement from your school counselor. If you high school does not rank class members, please add a ranking policy statement from your school, a copy of your school's profile and a GPA or grade distribution. For completed college coursework, including dual credit coursework, while in high school, submit official transcripts of the credit issued by the college or university.
4) Community Services Materials. Accumulate community services hours and provide materials. Write a one-page essay that best describes your leadership potential and the impact of your community service.
5) Recent portrait photo in JPEG (headshot with formal dress and clear background; resolution higher than 720x480).

Incomplete applications missing any of the above items will not be processed. Recipients will be announced on/or before August 2nd, 2018. The award will be presented at the Dinner Banquet of the CIE/USA-DFW annual convention on Saturday, August 18th, 2018 at the Renaissance Hotel (701 E Campbell Rd, Richardson, TX). Names and photographs of all recipients will be published in the convention proceedings and will be posted at the annual convention. The recipients will also receive a Life Membership from CIE/USA-DFW.

The following factors are considered in selecting the recipients of the 2018 Young Achiever Awards:

4) Community Service: Impact Factor (8%)
5) Community Service: Community Relevance (8%)
6) interview Results (6%)
7) Personal Aspiration - Biography (10%)
