IB Application for Diploma and Career Program
Welcome to the Champlin Park High School International Baccalaureate World School application process. We are thrilled that you are considering studying in the IB program, and we look forward to helping you find the best way to prepare yourself for the rigors of post high school learning.
This application is for those interested in undertaking the Full Diploma or Career Program. Participating in the complete program requires a significant commitment on the part of the student and their family. Therefore, this application serves a two-fold purpose. First, it is our opportunity to get to know you and your academic progress. In this way, it gives us a chance to see how the IB Diploma or Career Program can best serve your needs. Second, this application gives you and your parent(s)/guardian(s) a chance to discuss and then commit to the program.
If the Full Diploma or Career Program is not for you, we fully encourage you to take as many IB courses as you are able. Either way, we believe that you will benefit greatly from what IB has to offer.
Whatever path you choose, we wish you well as you consider the next steps in your academic journey here at Champlin Park!
Sincerely,
Ashley Brown Christopher Baker-Raivo

Application Deadline is January 15th
General Criteria for Selection
1) Attitude and commitment: Curious and motivated students who enjoy studying challenging curriculum.
2) Grades: Preference will be given to highly motivated students who achieve a minimum of a B average. However, we recognize that grades may not reflect ability.
3) Ability to articulate through writing: A good command of English is required for success in the program. Throughout the two years, there is much reading and writing. Even if the student's first language is not English, we consider his/her strong characteristics and capabilities. We are looking for highly motivated students capable of doing the work involved and supports are available for students needing additional language support.
4) Universality: Students are expected to have a broad range of interests and activities. They are also expected to make a commitment to service.
5) Ability to synthesize: The IB program is best suited to students who are able to reason, see relationships, draw conclusions and infer. These are the qualities we will teach and build upon.
6) Willingness to cooperate: Students will be expected to participate in class discussions and to work cooperatively in groups. Students will be expected to follow the guidelines in the Champlin Park High School Handbook to respect themselves and others.
