IB Phone Policy *
Unless directed to do so, phones, smart watches, etc. must be kept in backpacks/purses/bags or in the area designated by the teacher during instructional time. When allowed, you must be using your devices only for the designated purpose. Any student found with any unapproved data-capable device not in a bag or designated area during an assessment will receive a zero for that assessment, and the incident will be addressed under the Academic Honesty Policy.
Excessive Absences *
Per the Administration Regulation AR 5121(d) -"Teachers who choose to withhold class credit because of excessive unexcused absences shall so inform the students and parents/guardians of such a possibility at the beginning of the school year or semester." Consider this being informed. Excessive absences may result in no credit. IB also requires a minimum number of hours in order to obtain credit. Thus, if you skip class or are tardy too often, you may not receive credit for the class (and thus will not be eligible for an IB diploma) - The California Legislature defined a "truant" in very precise language. In summary, it states that a student missing more than 30 minutes of instruction without an excuse three times during the school year must be classified as a truant and reported to the proper school authority.
