ArbitralWomen and the Thailand Arbitration Centre are joining forces for the second time to address the crucial issue of gender diversity in international arbitration. The inaugural AW-THAC joint event in 2020 highlighted how gender parity in international arbitration - including in many Asian jurisdictions - remains elusive, especially among law firm partners and arbitrators. One year on, what has improved? What has changed? How has the COVID-19 pandemic affected issues concerning gender diversity, and women lawyers in particular?

 Join us for an interactive discussion with panellists including practitioners, academics, institutional counsel and arbitrators. This panel will examine some recent trends and developments relating to gender diversity in Thai and Asian international arbitration. To promote an interactive discussion, we invite participants to send their questions for discussion to ythac@thac.or.th by 23 September 2021.

Topics to be addressed include:
 -   What is the state of gender diversity in select Asian jurisdictions, and what drives the differences between them?
 -   What role do regional and cultural differences play in optimising (or not) gender parity?
 -   What efforts are Asian institutions making to appoint more female arbitrators?
 -   Other than institutions, what role should other actors (for example, law firms, parties) in international arbitration play to improve gender balance in arbitrator appointments?
 -   To what extent has the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in new challenges and opportunities for female professionals in the field?

The event is open to both men and women of all sectors as the insights and takeaways from our experienced panelists will be invaluable.
