_Release of Liability_
Although Cascadia Wild has gone to great lengths to create a rewarding experience for its participants, it is important that you realize that the activity that you are planning to participate in is not free of risks. The very elements that attract people to wilderness skills and outdoor education are the same elements that can cause injury, impairment, or even death. In addition to establishing a legal agreement, it is the mission of these documents to educate you on the hazards of this activity and begin to inform you of what you can expect during your participation.

I, the undersigned, have made arrangement with Cascadia Wild to participate in Wolverine Tracking Project and travel to Mt. Hood National Forest on the following date(s): _May 2022 - November 2022_. I have become familiar with the activities to be engaged in during the trip and I will read the Assumptions of Risks section below.

In exchange for being permitted to participate and within the limits of state law, I release and promise not to sue Cascadia Wild, its agents or employees, for any injury (including sickness and death) to me, or damage or loss to my property, arising out of my participation in this program, no matter the cause. I understand that the only exception to the preceding sentence is if injury, loss, or damage is ruled to be the result of intentional misconduct (Gross Negligence) by the employees or agents of Cascadia Wild.

I agree that the site of any lawsuit and the law governing any such lawsuit shall be Oregon’s and governed by Oregon law. The terms of this agreement shall continue and be in effect after the trip with Cascadia Wild has ended.

Under the principle of liquidated damages, I agree to pay Cascadia Wild’s court costs and attorney fees should they be forced to successfully defend any action, lawsuit, or litigation brought by myself, my executors, or my heirs, on my family’s behalf or my own.

Should a court of competent jurisdiction declare any paragraph or part of this agreement unenforceable, the remaining parts or paragraphs shall remain in full force and effect. A copy of this or any other document signed by me or my guardian is as good as the original.

I give permission for myself or the participant that I am signing for to be transported to any medical facility or hospital and I authorize for any qualified leader or medical personnel to render necessary emergency medical care.

_Wolverine Tracking Project Assumption of Risk_
During this project, you may encounter environments and hazards that are different from those in normal daily life. Although your safety is the primary concern of Cascadia Wild and its staff, there is no way that we can guarantee it.

There are too many variables beyond our control, one of which is you. It is our aim to provide you with knowledge about the risks associated with this activity so that you can become part of the safety system rather than an unpredictable piece of the puzzle.

While it is impossible to eliminate all of the risks, you can increase your personal margin of safety as well as that of the group by paying close attention to safety rules and procedures presented during this project and being on the lookout for possible risks. The following are a sample of risks associated with outdoor activities (a complete list would be impossible to generate):

 Cold weather injuries such as frostbite and hypothermia, and hot weather injuries such as heat exhaustion and heat stroke
 Getting lost
 Hazardous driving conditions
 Getting wet during river/creek crossings or narrow bridges
 Dehydration
 Blisters
 Physical exertion above your normal level
 Sore muscles
 Awkward footing
 Sunburn
 Actions of other participants
 Theft of personal items left in the vehicle
 Actions of individuals outside our group
 Water borne diseases
 Avalanches or unstable snow conditions
 Yellow jacket stings

 Infectious diseases

It is important that you realize that any of these risks can lead to minor and/or serious injury, such as abrasions, broken bones, strained and sprained joints, allergic reactions, and possibly death. It important that you understand that should you become injured, emergency medical treatment from a hospital or ambulance will be delayed by the fact that we are in an area that is remote and may be inaccessible by ambulance.
Please also understand that Cascadia Wild first aid kits do not contain any drugs for internal use and that you need to bring and self-administer these if you might need to use them. Additionally, if you have the potential for severe allergic reaction to bee stings, insect bites, poison oak, sunburn, etc., it is your responsibility to bring the proper medication on this trip.
