Committee on Ministry
Serve as pastor and counselor to teaching elders, ruling elders commissioned to pastoral service, and certified Christian educators of the presbytery; facilitate the relationships between and among these groups and settle any difficulties on behalf of the presbytery wherever possible for the peace and unity of the Church.
Committee on Preparation for Ministry
Oversee the process for those seeking God’s call to ministry.
Search for and recommend persons to serve the Presbytery in all its elected bodies, and facilitate opportunities for members to serve the church at the Synod and General Assembly levels.

Synod YAADS (Young Adult Advisory Delegates – need not be a Ruling Elder)

COMMITTEES SERVING THE PRESBYTERY’S MISSION:
Leadership Team (Teaching Elder or Ruling Elder)
To seek God’s leading as it holds before the Presbytery of Lake Michigan its core values and communicates these values to the other ministry teams for implementation.
Budget & Finance Committee (Teaching Elder or Ruling Elder)
Manage the financial resources of the Presbytery in partnership with the Treasurer; prepare and oversee the budget of the Presbytery’s income and expenses; develop recommendations for the financial well-being and stewardship of the Presbytery; serve as the Board of Trustees for the Presbytery, and receive, hold, encumber, manage, and transfer property of the Presbytery.
Presbytery Foundation (Teaching Elder or Ruling Elder)
Bear general responsibility for management and control of the Foundation and all the property held in the Foundation trust estate. Accumulate special resources for creative expansion of the Presbytery’s mission and ministries.
Staff Services Committee (Teaching Elder or Ruling Elder)
Conduct annual performance reviews of the Presbytery staff, assess staffing needs and make recommendations that will adequately support staff and the Presbytery’s structure.
ENCOURAGING CONGREGATIONAL VITALITY:

Administration Ministry Team
To work with and through churches and people of the Presbytery to provide leadership, resources and oversight in the areas of stewardship, finances, personnel, facilities, property, and polity.
Strengthen the Body of Christ within the Presbytery of Lake Michigan through the support of evangelism, church transformation and new communities of faith.
Discipleship Ministry Team
Encourage continuous growth in discipleship among the people and congregations of the Presbytery through worshiping God, living one’s purpose by following Jesus Christ, tending one’s spiritual life, being a student of scripture and of the Christian faith, rendering service to God and others, and developing one’s personal gifts and leadership skills.
Outreach Ministry Team (Mission Committee):
Work with the churches of the Presbytery to address peacemaking and justice; promote cultural awareness and racial justice; nurture partnerships locally and globally so that the needs of people may be met; and interpret and support the mission and stewardship of the Presbytery and the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).
Youth Strategy Team
Plan and oversee presbytery-wide youth opportunities that with educational, fellowship and faith opportunities. i.e., Confirmation Retreat, Mid-High Youth Mix, Alma Youth Mix, and Urban Plunge.
