These peer learning groups are powerful spaces to be in a community of likeminded peers, with diverse years of experience, who meet regularly, learn from and with each other by sharing best practices, and improve their ability to address challenges and opportunities with the aim of promoting cultural, community, and context-driven ways that affirm, build from, and advance community leadership and networks.
There will be four separate groups meeting during this time block: • Fundraising & Development• Organizational Management & Operations• Advocacy, Policy, and Community Organizing• Miscellaneous - this could be a themed topic or a topic generated by our participants!
We intend this to be a POC only space.
Nonprofit professionals of color do not have many spaces to come together, share knowledge, and support each other in safe environments. This space is critical because, particularly in this political and social climate, nonprofit professionalsof color need opportunities to address shared issues faster and make progress to meet the needs of communities of colorwithout, as one of our community members stated, “constantly slowing down to explain what they mean to outsiders.”People of color have shared context and the ability to navigate through racism and oppression in spaces they don’t haveto explain these issues allows greater opportunity to strengthen problem-solving and promotes common ground.
In our efforts to foster safe and supportive spaces for nonprofit professionals of color, we’ve create this space as an opportunity for people of color to share resources and discuss shared challenges. In addition, this space is available to our Community Alliance members who are community based organizations serving communities of color.
