DAPSN New Volunteer Sign-up Form
Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer for the DMV Abortion Practical Support Network (DAPSN).

With the rise of abortion bans across the nation, the need for volunteers in the DMV area is increasing as more and more people will be traveling for needed procedures.

We are looking for several types of volunteers, primarily those who can provide: 
  • Rides: transporting a patient to and from the clinic, their accommodation, and/or the airport, bus, or train station, for those coming from outside the DMV. 
  • Housing: offering a patient their spare bedroom for 1-3 nights while they receive their abortion.
  • Escorts: walking patients from the clinic to their accommodation.
We also sometimes reach out to our volunteers with other practical support needs, such as childcare, emotional support, meal support, etc. 

Note: Before they can start assisting patients, all new volunteers must attend a one hour virtual training, which they will receive an invitation to once their application has been vetted.

RIDE VOLUNTEER
Patients traveling to the DMV area for a procedure often need a ride from the airport, train station, and/or to and from the clinic.

If you have a car and occasionally have a flexible schedule during the week or weekend, this is a role for you!

Patients are often required to have an escort leaving their appointment. It is usually a 10 to 15 minute walk back to their hotel.

If you live centrally and occasionally have a flexible schedule during the week or weekend, this is a role for you!

HOUSING VOLUNTEER
We often need last minute accommodations for patients, which can be anywhere from 1 night to 3 nights.
If you have a spare bedroom* and are comfortable hosting, this role is for you!

*In order to respect the privacy and safety of patients, a spare bedroom is required

REQUIRED NEW VOLUNTEER TRAINING
All volunteers must attend a one-hour virtual training that covers everything you will need to know to work with patients. It is also an opportunity to get to know the DAPSN team and ask any questions you might have.

We will reach out to you to join an upcoming training once we have finished vetting your application. Stay tuned!
