2027 Botetourt County Fair Feather to Fork Project
This form is ONLY for exhibitors participating in the Feather to Fork - Laying Hen Project or Broiler Project. Please complete 1 form per exhibitor. If participants are sharing birds with a sibling or friend, there is a spot in the form to state that, but fill out a form for each exhibitor so we know how many total participants to expect.

Friday of the Fair, sometime between 3PM-5PM: VDACS will be present to test your birds. Birds are required to be in place for the show by 5:00pm. Try to arrive early if you can!  Bring a large cardboard box on Friday or Saturday to store under the poultry tables for the auction bidders to carry your birds home in. 

Friday of the Fair, at 5PM: Bird conformation to select the Best Pen of 3 birds and Reserve Best Pen of 3 Birds will be judged on the judge's own time after 5PM, and you do not need to be present for this part.

Friday of the Fair, at 7PM: Poultry Showmanship Competition: You must be present to show your bird to the judge.
Showmanship Order and Awards:
     Cloverbud (Cloverbuds will not be placed; participation only)
     Junior - competing for first and second
     Intermediate - competing for first and second
     Senior - competing for first and second

After you place your birds in their cages on Friday, it is your responsibility to check on your birds Friday before you leave, Saturday when you arrive, and Saturday before the 2PM auction. Make sure they have feed and water. Please leave your birds overnight on Friday, someone will be present at the fairgrounds to watch them all night and ensure they are safe.

Saturday of the Fair, around 2PM or whenever the livestock auction begins: You must be present to carry one of your birds around the auction for bidders to buy your birds. Be sure to thank your purchaser afterwards, and ask if they need help boxing up their birds for them to take home.
