Get the most out of your garden plot this season. In this 5-week training, Amara Ullauri (KCC Urban Farm) will introduce the basics of crop planning, prepping your soil, starting seeds, record keeping, harvesting, and organic pest management. Gardeners from gardens in good standing who complete the training will receive a basic set of gardening hand tools.

Amara (they/them) is an food justice organizer, educator and farmer currently teaching at KCC Urban Farm. Amara facilitates earth-based lessons that celebrate ancestral foodways, black and indigenous technologies and community resilience. They enjoy witnessing people reconnect to farming and landwork as sacred practices of liberation. Amara immigrated to New York from the Andes at the age of five, but continues to nourish their deep agrarian roots by farming in an urban landscape. Though navigating several positions, Amara strives to have three things in common: unconditional love for the land, compassion for all living things, and honoring our ancestors.
