Job SummaryNew Hope Schools Society is piloting the introduction of an improved, energy efficient, smokeless stove technology in the region of Ouest Department with the goal of improving health outcomes relating to air quality and respiratory illness and to reduce the amount of wood and charcoal needed for household cooking needs. This project will embed interns in rural communities in Haiti to introduce clean and efficient smokeless stove technology using locally sourced materials.. Youths elected by their communities will be trained and mentored by interns to build the smokeless stoves, providing household level education, these individuals with an incoming generating skill.

NHSS seeks to identify, partner with, and support local innovators to empower communities to realize their goals.
Work Performed" Train and mentor Haitian youths in implementation of clean cookstove technology." Manage project activities in line with project work plan and provide regular progress reports. " Exercise budget management over a portion of project funds." Carry out testing of the clean cookstove technology following established protocols. " Support the development of educational materials for use at the household level. " Support regular qualitative data collection to assess program impact. " Develop narrative communications for project and organizational promotions
Supervision ReceivedInterns will be directly managed by the executive director of New Hope Schools Society. Supervision will include visits to the field to offer on the ground support. Each intern will also be assigned a mentor from the leadership of New Hope Schools Society.
Core Requirements" Canadian citizen" Four-year degree (graduating within the last two calendar years)" No criminal record" 30 years of age at the start of project implementation
Desirable Qualities" Four-year degree in international development, public health, environmental studies, or engineering " Experience working internationally" Experience with monitoring and evaluation" Leadership experience " Communications abilities with social media, video and storytelling." Competence in French and/or Creole language
Working Conditions" The majority of the work is performed in variety of conditions in Haiti" Meetings and supervision may be in person or through electronic means." Ability to work some non-traditional and longer hours often on short notice " International travel is required." This position requires a successful Canadian criminal record check, a vulnerable sector check, and a satisfactory driver's abstract.
