Bungendore Harvest Festival 2019 - Sponsorship Prospectus
Bungendore Harvest Festival, Friday 26th - Sunday 28th of April 2019

Event Organiser: Southern Harvest Association ( https://southernharvest.org.au/ )

The Bungendore Harvest Festival is an annual celebration of local, cold climate food, drink and fibre. It explores how produce is grown in this region, where it is grown, where consumers may access it, how to prepare it, use it, eat it and drink it. The Festival occurs across a weekend to encourage overnight visitors to the region.

The Bungendore Harvest Festival encourages and promotes the integrity and freshness of the region's produce. The festival actively promotes food, farming and fibre related businesses throughout the region.

Starting FRIDAY evening, and continuing throughout the weekend, local food venues are encouraged to showcase locally sourced food and drinks on their menus for the enjoyment of locals and visitors alike. Assistance with sourcing local produce can be provided via Southern Harvest.

On the SATURDAY, from 10am-4pm the streets of Bungendore will come alive with market stalls, talks, demonstrations, short courses and festive activities.Market stalls are welcomed from farmers and producers growing, sourcing and producing within the Southern Harvest Region. This could include food and drink made, grown and sourced within region, arts and crafts from local fibres, and value added produce from local harvest. We also welcome demonstrations, info stalls from community organisations and harvest themed activities. Non-food businesses and organisations are encouraged to have stalls to promote food and agriculture related products and services. In previous years the festival has attracted 3000-8000 visitors to the town for the Saturday festivities.

SUNDAY will give visitors the chance to explore further afield and recognise Bungendore as a regional food destination. Visitors will participate in farm and winery tours, sample the freshest and finest local food, and attend half day courses focused on farming, producing, making and creating. There will also be a long table lunch in Bungendore at 1pm so that people can attend tours and courses in the morning and afternoon and share in a community harvest lunch in the middle. We would like to provide people with the option to buy a package deal ticket to increase participation.

The Bungendore Harvest Festival aims to have the participation of as many local businesses as possible. Together we can promote Bungendore as a regional food and tourism destination, profile our amazing regional produce, celebrate our farming history and continue to build our community.

WHY SPONSOR THE BUNGENDORE HARVEST FESTIVAL?

Southern Harvest Association is a non-profit organisation at the forefront of supporting our local and regional food and fibre industries. Our aim is to increase the markets and opportunities for farmers in the region and continue to promote “fair food” and farming initiatives in Southern NSW and the ACT.

Southern Harvest, through the Southern Harvest Farmers Market in Bungendore, its subscription based produce box scheme, partnerships with other local food security and sustainability organisations and ongoing consumer and producer education programs, has had a significant impact on local farmers, food businesses, and other local businesses. We see the potential for Bungendore and the surrounding region to become a regional food destination.

Sponsorship funds will be used to pay for media, promotion and administrative expenses for the Bungendore Harvest Festival. This is an opportunity for the local business community, who may not necessarily be able to actively participate in the festival, to lend their support financially. The flow on effects of the festival attendance to local businesses has been huge in previous years, bringing large numbers of customers and regional awareness to our town.
