MCBA 1:1 Tutorials
MCBA works with teaching artists to offer tutorials for people who would like one-to-one instruction in a book arts technique or focused guidance with a particular project. The content, pace, and timing of instruction is tailored to the individual(s) requesting the tutorial.
$75 per hour (one hour minimum, 1/2 hr increments available)
Additional $25 per hour for each additional participant
Additional supply costs may apply
Participants who consider themselves Black, Indigenous, and/or a Person of Color are eligible for a 10% discount. We are offering a discounted rate to BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) participants to honor equity and increase access and artistic opportunities for those who have historically been underrepresented in the book arts.

When would you like your tutorial to take place?
Since tutorials usually involve specialized equipment, they usually occur in person. If virtual instruction is available for the topic you're interested in, is that how you prefer to participate? For in-person tutorials, participants and teaching artists are required to follow MCBA's health and safety protocols.

Some processes practiced at MCBA require long periods of standing or other physical activities. Please share any physical considerations that would be helpful for us to know as we prepare for your tutorial.
When visiting any public place during this pandemic, there’s always a risk of exposure to COVID-19. When visiting Minnesota Center for Book Arts (MCBA), you voluntarily assume all risk knowing that COVID-19 is extremely contagious, and that for some people it can lead to severe illness and even death. Thank you for following MCBA's safety protocols. By scheduling a tutorial, individuals agree to read and follow MCBA's Covid-19 Preparedness Plan when in our studios.
