New Roots Participant Job Application-- extra

The Friends of the Urban Forest (FUF) New Roots program is a Workforce Development program that is an essential part of FUF’s urban greening and community engagement model.

The program serves young adults/transitional youths (ages 18-26) from low-income and disadvantaged communities in the SoMa, Tenderloin, Mission, Excelsior, and Bayview neighborhoods in San Francisco.

  • This is a temporary (~6 months) position

  • Part-time (32 hours per week)

  • Pay: $19.95/hour

  • Non-exempt (protected by wage and hour laws)

  • May include working some evenings and weekends.

The position involves both office and field work at the SOMA Fifth Street Tree Nursery and FUF offices in the Presidio. 

New Roots participants work closely with FUF staff, the Department of Public Works (DPW), property owners, the public, and nursery volunteers. This position reports to the New Roots Manager.
