Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Michigan Democratic Party's Voter Protection Team in 2026. We are recruiting and training a strong, statewide team to meet this moment and preserve safe, secure, and accessible elections for every eligible Michigander. We can't do it with you!

Roles
- Challenger: Observes Early Voting, Election Day voting, absentee ballot counting on and before Election Day. Active July 25 - August 4, October-November 3.
- Activation Team: Use warm calls/texts to re-engage veteran volunteers for upcoming elections. Active NOW - November.
- Clerk Engagement (Local Lead): Work with local clerks to monitor decisions, solve voter issues, and safeguard elections. Active year-round.
- County Canvass Observer: Monitors post-Election Day process that determines official vote count and certifies results. Active August 5 - 18, November 4 - 17.
- Ballot Cure: Help voters fix ballot or registration issues so their absentee ballot will count. Active July-November.
- Voter Hotline: Answer calls and guide voters through information and procedures. Active June-November 18.
- Research & Data Management: Provide crucial behind-the-scenes support to keep the program running smoothly. Active year-round.
Training is provided and required for each role.
