Mirror Memoirs 2021-2022 Call for Survivor Storytellers
Mirror Memoirs has received funding from RALIANCE to work in partnership with Athlete Ally to produce original research based on the narratives of 10 to 20 Two Spirit, transgender, non-binary and/or intersex people in the USA who survived sexual violence before age 18 and who:

1. played a sport in a K-12 or collegiate setting and/or
2. survived sexual assault in a sports facility or school building bathroom or locker room and/or by a coach, teammate, or other sports-related personnel

We will prioritize interviews from survivors who:
are Black, Indigenous and people of color,
received gender-affirming medical care as young people, and/or
live in a state in which anti-transgender legislation has been proposed or passed.

Interviews will be conducted from Fall 2021 through Spring 2022, recorded via our Zoom account, and led by two transgender or non-binary BIPOC survivors of child sexual abuse who have already shared their story in the Mirror Memoirs audio archive.

Storytellers are welcome to remain anonymous if they choose. No video will be shared from the recorded interviews (only audio will be shared).

All storytellers will be compensated $150 for their act of sharing.

Findings from this research project will be used to advocate for a culture shift away from the values of white supremacist, cisheteropatriarchal rape culture that has resulted in numerous bills being proposed and debated across state-level legislatures in the US seeking to ban transgender girls from competing in sports and to ban transgender youth from receiving gender affirming medical care.

Mirror Memoirs believes that survivors' stories belong only to them. While we will ask our storytellers to sign a release form so that we may use the lessons from an ensemble of stories to advocate against rape culture. Even if you record your story in our audio archive as a publicly "out" survivor, you always have the right to change your mind and decide to have your story be anonymous or even pulled completely from publicly being shared in the archive. That said, to the best of your knowledge, would you want your story to be anonymous, or would you want to be publicly known as a survivor in the Mirror Memoirs audio archive? *
Please describe the support network you currently have access to in terms of your survivorship. Who are the people in your life who know you are a survivor and who actively support your healing? (e.g. a therapist, partner, best friend, etc.) *
