Springfield College and Springfield Public Schools have expanded their existing partnership to pilot a pathway for paraeducators to become licensed teachers of students with moderate disabilities or other high need areas (math, science). Requirements for Graduate Degree Program are listed below:
NOTE: Paras interested in a bachelor's degree completion program do not have to meet the requirements listed below and should write in that they are interested in our weekend bachelor's degree program.
-Bachelor's Degree
-Full-time paraeducator (or teacher of record) employed by Springfield Public Schools
-Recommendation of school principal
-Transcript review of undergraduate coursework
-Application to Springfield College's Master's Degree program
-Passing all required MTELs (e.g., Communication & Literacy Skills: Reading & Writing, Subject Test) [Note, you can start the working teacher program without having passed all required MTELs.]
