We, the undersigned, agree in advocating for sustainable, accessible, affordable, and equitable transportation solutions that reduce our impact on the environment while addressing our transportation challenges. We recognize that sustainable transportation solutions spur economic development and increase opportunities for all citizens. MCRT is organized for the purpose of increasing knowledge of and participation in current and future transit proposals.    

We oppose:

(a) the construction of a Superconducting magnetic levitation (SCMaglev) train between Baltimore, MD and Washington D.C.; and

(b) the destruction of homes, business, communities, habitat, wetlands, parks, forests, etc. for the creation of a new train system between Baltimore, MD and Washington D.C.

We support:

(a) a thorough analysis of the  Environmental Impact Statement and any future permit decisions for an SCMaglev Train proposal; and distribution of findings with the community, public officials, along with sending opposition comments to the Maryland Transit Administration and Federal Railroad Administration.    

(b) encouraging citizen participation in present and future transit studies, ensuring that future projects are evaluated for economic viability, social and environmental impact, and community accessibility;

(c) conducting scientific and technical analysis and provide findings to assist the public in making sound decisions;

(d) meeting with government representatives and report to government committees, agencies, councils, legislatures, and boards to assist local, state, and federal policy makers to develop projects to ensure equity in transit;

(e) investing in existing regional transit, such as Amtrak, Metro, and MARC as a solution to regional transportation concerns; and

(f) continuing to expand and refine educational and outreach programs to meet the continuing challenge of planning for optimal future transit.
