Improve wildlife habitat on your public lands!! National Public Lands Day Saturday, Sept 28, 2019
Minnesota Master Naturalists is sponsoring the National Public Lands Day at Indian Heights Park and the Oronoco Scientific and Natural Area. If you love wildlife, the outdoors, or you simply love volunteering, sign up for at least 90 minutes in one of our nearby locations. All ages welcome!
Register by Sunday (September 8th) to get a free Public Lands Day T-Shirt.
Friends and family members-- please complete a separate registration for each person you sign up.
Choose an activity:
1. Managing invasive species at a public neighborhood park in NW Rochester (Indian Heights Park) to improve bird and pollinator habitats.
2. Collecting local ecotype seeds from a prairie remnant to preserve genetic diversity in native plants and improve bird/butterfly/wildlife habitats on city land.
For either activity wear sturdy shoes, long socks, jeans, and long-sleeves. Sunglasses and a hat will be important for the seed collection. Contact Dawn Littleton <

Collecting local native seed from a nearby Scientific and Natural Area for Rochester City Parks use (A permit has been obtained from the DNR).
Removing buckthorn and honeysuckle at Indian Heights by cutting and applying herbicide (we provide the saws, herbicide and safety training)
Start and end time you plan to volunteer. (For example: 1-3pm)
