TERM 2 Unified All Abilities Day

Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS) Unified All Abilities Multi Sport Days give students the opportunity to try a range of sports. During this day individuals with and without a disability share the empowerment that comes with engaging in sport. Aimed at primary students aged 8-13 years with intellectual, social-emotional, sensory and physical disabilities, the days are an opportunity to have a go in a fun and inclusive environment. The unified program allows students to bring a buddy from their school to help them learn new skills and provides them with the confidence to participate and compete against other students.

It’s a fun and inclusive sports day for students with disabilities and their buddies. The event will be held on Tuesday 2nd July at Majors Bay Reserve Concord. There is a focus on Football (soccer) & European Handball for this particular event. Parents are responsible for the transportation and supervision to and from this event. Depending on the amount of students interested, we may have a supervising teacher from our school present.

These days are designed to:

  • promote social inclusion

  • provide students with a sense of connectedness

  • build sense of self

  • encourage ‘giving it a go’

  • foster a love of the game.

The day involves:

  • access to specialised coaching and adaptive equipment

  • opportunities to network with students and teachers from other schools

Benefits of attending the day include:

  • building social wellbeing and friendships

  • strengthening balance, coordination and mobility skills
