"Slow Art" - non- Google users application

Village West Gallery is pleased to be working with guest curator Diana Schmertz on the 'Slow Art' group show.

Today’s mode of thinking around visual imagery is closely tied to social media, advertising and instant gratification. We are conditioned to scroll, swipe and digest imagery in a flash and then move on to the next. Slow Art will be an exhibition that brings homage to works demonstrating thoughtfulness, patience, and rigor.

Precision is not just about complexity; years of thought, study and practice can lead some artists to create works of restraint and simplicity. The works in the exhibition will compel viewers to decelerate and observe in quite contemplation.

Artists are asked to submit artwork that demonstrates qualities fitting the theme of the show in any visual medium. Let us know about your process and why your work qualifies as "slow art."

There is no fee to apply, and Village West Gallery (villagewestgallery.com) takes no commission from sales.

Application deadline for 'Slow Art' is midnight on August 5, 2019. Applicants will be notified about acceptance in the show by September 9 - all accepted work must be at Village West no later than September 23.

The show will run from October 3 through December 8, 2019.

There is an artist FAQ page here: villagewestgallery.com/artistfaq.html

Please upload high resolution images of your work - no more than 3 per submission - with the artwork name, medium and size in the image name.
