As a Brennan Discussion Group (BDG) leader, your role is to facilitate a safe, welcoming and engaging environment for peers to discuss relevant Social Justice topics. You are to inspire and prompt discussions and encourage all participants to provide meaningful insights into topics. You are also expected to
This is a great opportunity to meet other like-minded students with an interest in social justice issues and to develop leadership and communication skills. It will also provide the oppurtinity to consider Social Justice topics in new lights and develop your ability to think and lead as you go, as you will need to pivot to ensure all members remain engaged.
You will be required to run a minimum of 5 sessions over the course of the session (with a potential make-up 6th session if needed) - with each session lasting at least 1 hour.
Leaders will receive 2 LTS hours every week that the group meets for their preparation of discussion questions, and 25 ROJ points for a 1000 word reflection at the end of the semester.
Discussion Group leaders must be a second year student or older, or participated as a discussion group participant. Groups will consist of 5-7 participants.
Please note that all time sessions are dependant on availability and you will be contacted prior to the discussion groups begining to confirm timing.
