The founder of Kappa Phi, Harriet B. Thompson, began our sisterhood in hopes of providing a community of young women that would support and encourage each other during college and would guide these women as they became leaders in the Church. Kappa Phi originated under the Methodist faith, but later became (and remains) a non-denominational organization.

Although Kappa Phi has a Greek name, we are not associated with the National Panhellenic Conference of women's sororities. Two differences set us apart from this organization:

1. Membership is open to any woman attending college who believes in the values and goals of Kappa Phi. Bids are not issued to exclusive individuals - all women are invited and welcomed to join Kappa Phi.
2. Chapters are not allowed to purchase or own housing property.

Kappa Phi's collegiate chapters are located at universities across the United States - view our locations by clicking on the map above. If a Kappa Phi chapter is not located on your campus, but you are interested in starting one, we would love to speak with you and support you in the creation of your new chapter!

We look forward to getting to know you and we are excited about the possibility of working with you to grow our Kappa Phi sisterhood!
