Sign-Up: Tutoring Support for Families of Medical/Hospital Employees During the COVID-19 Pandemic
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic Charlottesville and Albemarle County public schools have transitioned to remote-learning for the duration of the academic year. This shift in schooling has required many parents/legal guardians to take an increased role in their children's education - a task that can prove especially difficult for families with healthcare workers (including doctors, nurses, technicians, and other essential staff) that work long hours to combat the pandemic. The University of Virginia Volunteer Tutoring Network (in partnership with Madison House) is recruiting people to help serve their families in the local Charlottesville/Albemarle community.

Registering your information in this form will place you in the tutoring system to be matched to a student in Charlottesville/Albemarle who can potentially benefit from virtual tutoring in the subject of their indicated need. Once matched, you will be responsible for arranging via email for a tutoring session through Zoom or another virtual platform (ex. Skype, Google Hangouts), as well as submitting periodic feedback on tutoring sessions to the program coordinators to ensure a successful learning environment for students. Currently tutors will be matched initially for one weekly session lasting one hour. Depending on demand and willingness we may ask tutors volunteer more as required to meet our community need.

If you are not interested in tutoring, but would still like to contribute to advancing the goals of our initiative, we are looking for administrative volunteers to assist with a variety of logistical supports (e.g. student-tutor matching, volunteer outreach and digital organizing). If interested, please an additional email to the address below.

Thank you so much for choosing to support medical/hospital workers and their families throughout this crisis!
