It’s time for Rhode Island to end its reliance on solitary confinement.
We are an alliance of local community organizers, formerly incarcerated people and their loved ones, students, educators, lawyers, abolitionists, community agencies, and other concerned citizens, working to end the use of extended solitary confinement. Our first step in this process is to support the Restrictive Housing Act (RHA), which would better living conditions in RI prisons, create greater access to mental and behavioral healthcare & programming, and restrict the use of long term solitary confinement in RI. With the passage of the RHA, we take a really important step towards the reinvestment of resources into directly impacted RI communities.
