IWLN serves Indigenous women working on environmental issues in the Colorado River Basin, particularly tribal water issues. “Women” includes cisgender women, transgender women, femme/feminine-identifying, genderqueer and nonbinary individuals who are contributing to the stewardship and protection of the Colorado River Basin.
IWLN provides a platform for Indigenous women within the Colorado River Basin who are working on environmental issues to achieve the following objectives: mentor, inspire, and support each other,; exchange information; build and refine skills in leadership; and facilitate a succession of Native women in positions of leadership in their community.
To accomplish these objectives, IWLN: 1) Identifies and engages Native American women who are working or interested in working on environmental issues in the Colorado River Basin; 2)Provides in-person opportunities for Native American women to connect with one another and build supportive relationships; 3) and hosts quarterly webinars to facilitate professional development and leadership skills.
