Compost Request Form
Fill out this form to request free compost produced by the NYC Compost Project hosted by Lower East Side Ecology Center. All requests must be made by community groups or residents using compost in public greening projects such as street tree care, community or school gardens, parks or other public spaces.

Compost cannot be requested for commercial or private use. Requests will be accepted on a rolling basis and be approved based on availability.

With help from volunteers, we bag compost in sand bags, each bag contains roughly .038 cubic yards ( or 1.03 cubic feet) of compost.

The compost you are requesting is produced in Manhattan by the NYC Compost Project hosted by Lower East Side Ecology Center. It is made from food scraps collected at our food scrap drop-off sites in Manhattan. *
