About the NELC
The National Energy Leadership Corps (NELC) provides free home energy assessments to help homeowners find ways to save money on their energy bills and improve the health and safety of their homes. We provide access to trained energy surveyors that help find energy saving opportunities that are aligned with homeowner’s priorities, budget, and home.
How it works: (How can this be free?)
NELC energy surveyors participate in classes and training programs at college and universities. After their training, they are mentored through practical experiences in which they conduct actual home energy assessments in their communities. In this process:
Homeowners get help developing a personal energy plan based on their priorities and lifestyle. Students gain valuable experience while creating awareness in their communities about energy-saving strategies
Who is eligible?
Currently the NELC program is targeted in people who own single family homes rather than apartments, but as we gain capacity, we hope to expand!
How do I apply?
Please complete the application and survey below. Your information and survey response will be kept confidential.
**NOTE: The NELC program is currently on hold pending a re-organization of the NELC program, and the acquisition of new funding mechanisms. As of January 1, 2016, we regret that we are unable to accommodate request for assessments until further notice.
We are grateful to all the homeowners who participated in the pilot efforts, and will be working hard to find new opportunities to continue the NELC.
