The Playwork Campference is a camping conference dedicated to the theory, ethics and practices of Playwork, offering a unique opportunity to spend time within a community of internationally experienced playworkers. Our small but growing field has a rich history and astonishing breadth of application. Meet colleagues who have started and staffed play-focused projects in parks, schools, hospitals, and Adventure Playgrounds. Observe playwork in action, and talk with new friends and mentors about the challenges and triumphs they've known. Through facilitated workshops, presentations on the latest research, and hands-on building opportunities, participants will be able to expand their knowledge, deepen their practice, and make strong personal connections with fellow playworkers.
"I've finally found my people." (Campference participant, 2017)
CRITERIA FOR PRESENTATIONSOur theme of "Choosing a Playwork Path" emphasizes the complexities of putting theory into practice. We want to hear the choices and compromises practitioners have made to keep playwork front and center, what opportunities they have seized and how. What is a playwork path? How is it found, created or followed? We are interested in proposals including:~ case studies of relationships and projects~ illustrative explanations of key theories in practice~ stories combining playwork and parenthood~ practical skillshares, such as rope work and basic construction techniques~ information from other fields, such as improvisational movement, social thinking or somatic therapy, which might inform or expand playworkIf you have an idea to discuss, we are happy to help you shape your presentation.
A FEW EXTRA NOTES~ Presentations can use A/V presentations or take hands-on-workshop form.~ Presentations may be either 20 or 60 minutes long, unless you have a specific idea to discuss~ Presenters who need financial assistance to attend can speak with Suzanna about discounts and work exchanges. Accommodation other than camping should be sought independently~ In the event of cancelation, presenters are subject to the same refund conditions as other Campference participants: a full refund (minus $50 admin fee) up to 2 months before the Campference. After that, any refunds are subject to discussion.~ DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS IS 31ST OCTOBER 2018. You should hear from us within 30 days whether your presentation has been accepted or not.
