    This special Friends of the Smokies fundraising hike includes:

    Friends of the Smokies is hosting a special overnight hike to LeConte Lodge on August 23-24, 2016. You will be hiking up to Mt Le Conte, enjoying an overnight stay in the highest guest lodge in the eastern United States. The rustic historic lodge is located just below the summit of Mt Le Conte at an elevation of 6,360 feet. LeConte Lodge is equipped with cabins, bunkbeds, linens and restrooms. This fundraiser for Friends of Great Smoky Mountains National Park includes guided hikes, behind the scenes tour of Alum Cave Trail's in process major trail improvements, Park Ranger program, shuttle between trailheads, lodging, dinner, breakfast and lunch. Cost is $400 per person, $150 tax deductible. Of the 10 million visitors to Great Smoky Mountains National Park each year, only one tenth are able to experience waking to nature's amazing beauty from LeConte Lodge. Friends is pleased to offer you this very special opportunity. Lodging: Hikers will be assigned to a cabin. Double bunk beds within the dormitory style cabins are first come first serve. There are two people to every double bed.     Cancellations made by July 1 are eligible for a full refund. After July 1, the payment is non-refundable, but the entire donation will become tax-deductible.
