Join AARP Virginia, Charlottesville Area Alliance, and other community and government partners for a Walk Audit Workshop facilitated by America Walks.

WHEN? ... Friday, June 7th, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm
WHAT? ... Workshop Outline:
- 8:30 am: Coffee and Networking
- 9:00 am: Morning Program - includes presentations covering existing initiatives and inclusive mobility, followed by a “Wheels in Motion” participatory walking/rolling experience
- 12:45 pm: Lunch (provided by AARP Virginia)
- 1:15 pm: Afternoon Program - includes a “Walkability Audit” and small-group discussions to develop recommendations for design improvements and grow a local advocacy movement for community change
- 5:00 pm: Close and Happy Hour (optional)
WHY? ... Workshop Goals:
- Build the community’s capacity to conduct walkability and accessibility audits
- Expand and activate the existing local movement of grass-roots advocates and stakeholders
- Center equity (low-income families, people with disabilities, seniors, etc.) in research and recommendations
- Strengthen partnerships with City, County, and State, and ensure inclusive planning practices are used
- Generate ideas for improving pedestrian safety, comfort, and first/last mile connections to transit
- Establish a foundation for future engagement
