Thank you HCPS for your recent decision with respect to masks for the 2021-2022 School Year
Dear HCPS Leadership:
As stakeholders in the education of our children, we, as parents and legal guardians, appreciate HCPS’s recent decision regarding masking guidelines to allow for choice, while emphasizing the importance of following mitigation procedures that will keep all of us safe. Decisions pertaining to the health and well-being of our children are best left to the parents and guardians who are ultimately responsible for the medical needs of their children and families. It is heartening to see that HCPS recognizes this: no family is exactly the same and a one-size-fits-all policy does not accommodate the widely varying and unique needs our children have not only for their health, but also their education.
As parents and guardians, we assess risk for our children and our families on a daily basis. We are grateful that HCPS staff and the community at large were afforded the opportunity to be vaccinated and are confident in the science behind the vaccines.
This has been a challenging time for leadership, staff, parents, guardians, and students, and we are glad to see that HCPS will do all that is in its power to allow everyone to return to an appropriate level of normalcy.
As the 2021-2022 school year begins, we look forward to working with you as equal stakeholders in the education of our children.
