Why the survey?
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is
being used to instigate change in higher education systems and providers across
the world. These changes have the potential to fundamentally change higher
education (HE) and how it is delivered. This survey is part of a wider research
project being undertaken by the World Access to Higher Education Network
(WAHEN) which aims to understand how AI may impact on access and success in
higher education for students from background under-served by HE including first-generation
students, rural students, students with disabilities and refugees/displaced
learners.
Our WAHEN research shows that in
all countries, where we have data, higher education participation and attainment is
unequal [1] –
will AI make these inequalities worse or can it open up opportunities for
millions presently not accessing higher education and/or enable students from
under-served background from reaching their potential when they enter?
How do we define AI?
AI or related technologies may
include generative AI, predictive analytics, learning analytics, automated
decision-support tools, adaptive systems, chatbots, and other data-driven
technologies. We recognise definitions vary across institutions and countries.
Who is the survey for?
This survey is aimed at
organisations who deliver higher education courses or organisations who
represent/support other organisations which deliver higher education courses.
What does this survey ask?
This survey contains two sections. Section A: Initial Information, asks for some personal details
(voluntary). Section C:
Risks & Opportunities asks for your opinions and perspectives on the use of
AI for access and success in higher education and the impacts of current policy in your region.
What will
happen to your data?
This data will
be used for the purposes of this project only. It will be stored on a secure
server and accessed only by the project team. Responses will be anonymised
unless agreed individually with respondents. Data will be destroyed 24 months
after the closing date to the survey.
This survey will take approximately 8 minutes to complete.
