Do you pledge to leave the leaves in your yard?

Leaves are an important part of a healthy ecosystem, and leaving them in your yard has many benefits for our community and the planet. You can leave them where they fall, move them under trees and shrubbery, or use them as compost or mulch.

If you live in Orange County, would you like a free "Leave Your Leaves" yard sign?

This demonstrates your support for climate resilience and biodiversity while communicating the intention and value of your leaf-leaving practices. The yard signs are made from sturdy, weather-resistant, and water-proof material and are printed with low-VOC vegetable-based inks. They measure 18" x 24" inches, have imagery (shown below) on both sides, and come with metal stakes so you can easily display them in your yard. We encourage you to re-use these durable yard signs year after year!

Most people get yard signs in October and November, but they are still available outside of this timeframe. If you would like yard sign, simply check "Yes" and a staff member will work with you to arrange a pickup at the Chapel Hill Town Hall.

*We are providing yard signs to Orange County residents while supplies last, with a limit of one yard sign per household each year. If you are located in Durham, we encourage you to get a very similar yard sign by signing the Leave Your Leaves pledge on the Keep Durham Beautiful website.
