In 2018 The Happy Wanderer Festival is embarking on its sixth year! The festival has grown out of working bees, where friends came together to help out on our beautiful farm in north-east Victoria. Now the festival has ripened into a celebration of community, environment, local produce and most importantly, incredibly talented local musicians.
This year beautiful people from across the country will be gathering at this special place on Melbourne Cup long weekend, 2 - 5 November. Applications for food vans are now open and we'd love to hear from you.
We are expecting about 800 people over the course of the weekend. Last year we had four food vans and we provided festival catering for volunteers and artists.
We are looking for four vans for most meals starting with Friday night dinner and ending with Sunday night dinner (depending on meal coverage that vans can provide we may end up with more than four vendors over the weekend). A site fee will be negotiated with successful vendors based on which meals are expected to be served over the weekend.
As the festival traditionally feeds volunteers and band members we are looking to implement a system whereby these people would be able to exchange festival tokens for meals, after which we would reimburse food vans the value of the meal. More detail on this for successful applicants. There will also be a separate coffee and chai stall.
We are particularly interested in having food vans that provide healthy food which incorporates local produce and/or can tell a story about where the ingredients have come from. We will also be biased towards vans that use biodegradable plates and cutlery or support people to bring their own plates and cutlery.
Applications close on 1 August 2018.
