Pregnancy and birth are a natural part of life, but they can also be intimidating. Set yourself up for success—whatever that looks like for you—by enrolling in a high-quality childbirth education class.

This comprehensive class is grounded in Lamaze International’s Six Healthy Birth Practices, providing evidence-based, empowering education to help you make informed decisions throughout your pregnancy, birth, and beyond.

Students will learn about and discuss the following:

  • The history and culture of childbirth in the U.S. and their impact today
  • Pregnancy anatomy and typical gestation
  • Labor and birth processes
  • Warning signs during pregnancy and postpartum
  • Comfort measures for labor
  • Pain medication options
  • Common interventions
  • Cesarean births
  • Postpartum recovery
  • Newborn care and feeding
  • Decision-making strategies

Details:
In person classes meet in my home studio on the east side of Madison, WI; virtual classes meet on Zoom. Students are encouraged to attend with their birth partner since there will be education for support people as well.

Class Policies:
  • Students are expected to attend all sessions they register for.
  • Make-up classes are not offered for missed sessions, and virtual participation is not available for in-person classes.
  • Backup dates are reserved for instructor illness, family emergencies, or doula client births during scheduled class times.
  • Class size is limited to ensure an optimal learning experience:
    • In-person classes: Max 6 couples (minimum 3 couples to run).
    • Online classes: Max 8 couples (minimum 3 couples to run).
