Alewife Study Group would like to solicit your feedback. On Tuesday, September 14th the City of Cambridge (TPT and CDD) held a virtual community meeting to discuss changes to Mass Ave from Dudley St to Alewife Brook Pkwy in relation to the Cycling Safety Ordinance. Even though the Ordinance provides until April 2022, the City is moving to "Quick Build" these changes by November 2021. We seek to gather feedback from community members about the city's plan to inform our engagement with them. The main elements include:
- Addition of dedicated, separated bike lanes on both inbound and outbound of Mass Ave from Alewife Brook to Dudley
- Removal of all street parking on Mass Ave
- On the inbound, removal of one lane of car traffic and converting to dedicated bus lane for rush hour and loading zone for other hours.
- Addition of dedicated bus stop on the outbound at Gladstone to Alewife Brook
- Removal of some residential parking, and addition of metered parking, on select side streets (Columbus, Magoun, Richard, Gold Star, Cameron, Alberta).
- Removal of left turn from Mass Ave onto Cameron. City proposes only a right turn onto Cedar St and left turn onto Harvey St (which would become two-way between Cedar and Mass Ave) then straight to Cameron
A video of the meeting shall be posted in the near future. More information can be found in the link below.
