Join us to hear an incredible story of collective action through the weaving of witness telling, music, and spoken word poetry in tribute to community power.
On March 27th, 1996, a collection of activists from the community as well as local union members, joined together in a 133 day protest by occupying the offices of the Canada Employment Centre located at 2089 Gottingen Street in North end Halifax.
This remarkable act of worker and community resistance still holds the record as Canada’s longest occupation of a Federal Government office in the history of Canada.
