SummaryBread & Roses, the primary outreach ministry of Trinity Episcopal Church, is“transforming the ways we acquire, cook, and relate to the food we eat”. We workin the Charlottesville community to support teaching the individual skills ofcooking, gardening, and nutrition choices, while paying attention to the largerissues of shifting toward a more equitable and accessible food system. We work tofacilitate these shifts–seed by seed and bite by bite–by using our outdoor spacefor organic demonstration gardens and our commercial kitchen for classes andmicro food businesses, and by collaborating to share our resources with othercommunity organizations.
We are seeking a Steering Committee Chair. In coordination with our ProgramCoordinator, the Chair will bring their energy, skills, and talent to running anorganized, action-oriented Steering Committee. This is an unpaid position.
Skills and Qualifications● Passionate about food justice, defined as communities exercising theirright to grow, sell, and eat healthy food● Dedicated to, and reflective about, the value of diversity and inclusion● Is a solutions-oriented team player and values diverse perspectives● Has a track record of leadership and management, board experience a plus● Organized and able to create systems for clear communication● Experienced with financial management (i.e. budget oversight,fundraising)● Is familiar with, and has relationships, in the Charlottesville community● Shares value of ministry, and sees this work as part of one’s vocation● Has capacity to fulfill responsibilities (maximum 10 hours per month for 1year)
