DEACONDeacons are the care-giving officers of the church. Deacons care for the sick, the elderly, the needy and the marginalized. They visit shut-ins and the hospitalized. They send cards, organize meals, and take communion to people who are recovering from illnesses or in need. They oversee the deacon fund, which provides one-time financial assistance to those who are in need of economic help. The deacons meet as a board once a month, help serve communion at worship services, and greet visitors during fellowship times. A warm, compassionate heart and a willingness to serve is the perfect combination for a deacon to possess.
NOMINATING COMMITTEEThe role of the Nominating Committee is to seek out and recruit qualified, skilled nominees to willingly and joyfully serve God by participating in the leadership of the church. Individuals serving should be persons who have a background of service to Christ through our church, a knowledge of the work of the Session and the Board of the Deacons, a broad acquaintance with members of this congregation.
ASSOCIATE PASTOR NOMINATING COMMITTEEThe associate pastor nominating committee (APNC), representative of the whole congregation and elected by the congregation, has the ultimate responsibility for nominating a minister to the congregation for election as an associate pastor. Over a number of months, the APNC will journey through the search process, seeking to hear the call of Christ and “to participate in God’s own choice” for an Associate Pastor.
