Bard Math Circle Fall Events on Bard Campus
The Bard Math Circle is excited to announce three special events for Fall 2014 on the Bard College Campus to complement our library programs around the Hudson Valley. Two of the sessions feature our open-classroom format, and the third is the AMC 8 middle school math competition. Space for these events is limited, and will be provided on a first-come-first-serve basis (so sign up soon!). Once all available spots have been filled we will open a form for our wait list.
--- Bard Math Circle Fall Events on Bard College Campus ---
Saturday, October 18, 1-3pm. Math Circle I.
Saturday, November 15, 1-3pm. Math Circle II.
Our Math Circle features puzzles and games, challenging math problems, and a hands-on project that students can take home. Intended for middle school and upper elementary school students, we help students strengthen their critical thinking skills and make math more fun.
Tuesday, November 18, 4-7pm. The AMC 8.
This contest for students contains engaging math problems that are challenging at the middle school level. The exam is intended to inspire, promote enthusiasm, and a healthy attitude towards mathematics. Students will be exposed to the richness of middle school level mathematics at a deeper level than ordinarily encountered in the schools. After the exam, students will be treated to an interesting math talk from a Bard math professor. The Bard Math Circle will offer prep sessions for the AMC 8 for registered participants.
