Potrero Yard Neighborhood Working Group Application
The Muni bus you ride on starts and finishes its day in a Muni bus yard. Those yards are the backbone of San Francisco’s public transit, and many are over 100 years old.

Over the last several years, the SFMTA has implemented historic increases of transit service and upgraded our fleet to better serve our customers. Now, the SFMTA has launched the Building Progress Project to rebuild and modernize our facilities, to make sure we can store and maintain the vehicles that get you where you need to go.

We are starting with modernizing the Potrero Yard bordered by 17th, Bryant, Mariposa, and Hampshire streets.

The Potrero Yard Neighborhood Working Group helps guide the SFMTA's decision making process throughout the Potrero Yard Modernization Project to ensure the new facility, and potential joint uses like housing, are good neighbors to the surrounding community and reflect their priorities. The Potrero Yard Neighborhood Working will also shape public outreach, weigh in on elements of the project design, and inform the design and program of joint development (housing above the yard).

Role of the Potrero Yard Neighborhood Working Group
The Potrero Yard Neighborhood Working Group is a volunteer-based group that advises the SFMTA on how the rebuilt Potrero Yard and any potential joint uses for the site should complement and fit with the surrounding neighborhood.

Some technical elements, such as the capacity and maintenance functions of the facility or whether a joint use of the site is feasible, must be decided by staff and the technical team.

The mission of the Potrero Yard Neighborhood Working Group is to:

> Foster two-way communications and provide feedback to the Building Progress team on key decision points for the program including the potential for joint uses like housing;

> Deepen relationships with community members;

> Create an improved communications pipeline to promote Potrero Yard Modernization Project public participation opportunities.
Membership
The Potrero Yard Neighborhood Working Group is made up of approximately 20 members, selected by the SFMTA and members of the Potrero Neighborhood Collective developer team  in consultation with the Supervisors of Districts 9 and 10. Each seat represents a specific interest in an element of the project. Applicants will be expected to explain how they meet the criteria for at least one seat.
