BPS MTEL Flex Program Candidate Inquiry Form
The Office of Recruitment, Cultivation, and Diversity would like to make you aware of a recent MTEL testing policy change from DESE. The policy change is in regards to the MTEL Flex testing option. MTEL Flex allows licensure candidates who took certain subject-area MTELs on or after October 20, 2020 and did not earn a passing score to submit a written assessment instead of re-taking the test. The written assessment is reviewed and scored by Pearson. If a candidate submits and passes the MTEL Flex assignment, then they have passed their MTEL for that subject area. The subjects and score ranges that are eligible for MTEL-Flex are listed below.
Foundations of Reading: (candidates who scored 231 and above)
English as a Second Language: (candidates who scored 229 and above)
General Curriculum Mathematics: (candidates who scored 227 and above)
General Curriculum Multi-Subject: (candidates who scored 227 and above)
History: (candidates who scored 231 and above)
English Language Arts: (candidates who scored 230 and above)
Spanish: (candidates who scored 229 and above)
The BPS MTEL Prep program is in the process of developing an MTEL Flex course. We will offer this course in Summer of 2022. Once the course dates are finalized, everyone who attended our info sessions or completed this form will be notified. We appreciate your interest in the MTEL Flex program!
