GIS For Journalists
The San Diego Regional Data Library  and Evari GIS Consulting are planning to run a GIS workshop to train journalists in basic geographic operations and mapping, using Open Source and free tools. In this workshop, you will learn how to explore San Diego's streets, environment and demographics and create maps from the results.

This will be an approximately 3 hour workshop, working a realistic problem that involves collecting demographic data, business locations, and crime reports, combining them into a map, publishing the map to the web, and exporting data to Excel for additional analysis. There will also be time to address participant's specific projects.

The organizers would like to get your input on what sort of topics we should cover, where to host the event, and when to schedule it.
