UAW Region 6 Just Transition Committee
The US is transitioning away from fossil fuel-driven energy sources, including ambitious state goals around electric vehicles, UAW's anchoring industry. When billionaires control the transition, jobs in the clean energy sector are low-paid and dangerous, and frontline communities are steamrolled. However, when workers control the transition, our workplace and community needs are at the forefront of decarbonization. The UAW Region 6 Just Transition Committee (fka Climate Justice Committee) seeks to use policy tools to help organize tens of thousands of new industrial workers and increase worker control over production. This survey is intended to understand members' experience with climate change and the transition toward renewable energy. JTC typically meets the last Thursday of each month at 6PM on Zoom.
