Canadian Young Physicists' Tournament 2019 Registration Form
Welcome to the 3rd annual CaYPT! We are hoping that this will be a unique experience for students passionate in physics and to further their knowledge in this phenomenal field. This form will provide information for the CaYPT Organizing Committee to plan for CaYPT 2019. All information submitted will be kept confidential.

Here, you will need to enter details for all your team members.
Note that information provided on this form is accurate for the 2019 CaYPT.

CaYPT 2019 will be held at the University of Toronto (St. George Campus), McLennan Physical Laboratories, 60 St. George St., on Saturday, March 16th, 2019 (Day 1) and Saturday, March 23rd, 2019 (Day 2).

For this registration form, we require the name and contact details of a supporting adult who will accompany the team on the days of the competition and will verify the information in the registration. This person will be the Team Leader, and must be an adult with adequate physics knowledge (i.e., a physics teacher) to be able to coach the team.
We encourage the Team Leader to fill out the form and make the payments through the PayPal system, or mail the cheque to the STEM Fellowship mailing address (STEM Fellowship, 24 Weatherstone Cr. Toronto, ON, M2H 1C2) on behalf of the team of students.

Teams will be consisted of 3-5 students. All participating students must be Canadian residents currently enrolled in a Canadian high school. One student shall be a Team Captain, who will be the main contact for the team. It is NOT required for all students nor the Team Leader to be from the same school, or representing a school all together.

Note that any persons who are not part of a participating team are NOT allowed to spectate the Physics Matches (PM's) at any point in the tournament. This includes, but not limited to, any family members or friends of the team members. There will be a lounge for such persons to stay during the competition.
If a student meeting the criteria for the eligibility of the competition wishes to compete in the future and/or if a physics educator is interested in forming a team/being a team leader for future competitions would like to observe the tournament, please email us at

Please remember that there is an early-bird registration fee of $250 CAD per team if the registration process + payment is completed before January 1st, 2019. The registration fee will be $300 CAD per team if the process is completed between January 1st and February 16th, 2019. The deadline for the registration is February 16th, 2019 at 11:59pm EST.

The registration fee can be paid through the PayPal link below or by a cheque, postmarked no later than January 1st, 2019 for early-bird registration, and February 16th, 2019 for regular registration. The registration will not be processed until the payments have been made according to this deadline. If paying by cheque, please address it to STEM Fellowship, 24 Weatherstone Cr. Toronto, ON, M2H 1C2.

If a registered team wishes to withdraw from the competition, the registration fee will be refunded in full if the team withdraws before February 16th, 2019 at 11:59pm EST. If the team withdraws before March 1st, 2019 at 11:59 pm EST, the team will receive a partial refund of 50% of their registration fee. After March 1st, 2019, there will be no refunds, and any team that did not show up to the competition, all their members will lose eligibility to participate in the Canadian National Team Selection for the 2019 IYPT. If the team wishes to withdraw from CaYPT 2019, please email

If the competition is cancelled for any reason, all registered teams will receive full refunds of their registration fee (including the meal fee).

There is an optional meal fee of $15 CAD per person. The meal fee includes two meals (one for each day of the competition) and snacks. Otherwise, you may bring your own meals (please be mindful of allergies) or visit a vast selection of restaurants near the U of T campus. We will provide suggestions and maps to these restaurants on the website.

If members are purchasing meals through CaYPT, please include the cumulative cost in the registration payment and fill out the section in this form with information on how many sets of meals (1 meal + 1 snack on Day 1, 1 meal + 1 snack on Day 2 per set of meals) the team is purchasing and list any dietary restrictions. One member may purchase more than one set of meals. You may not purchase a "part" of the set (e.g., 1 meal for only Day 1 and none for Day 2). The costs for meals are non-refundable.

All teams must arrange their own transportation to the University of Toronto and arrive on time for the competition. The travel fee is NOT covered by CaYPT. For teams that require special accommodations - e.g., teams from outside Ontario or have mobility issues, or teams from Ontario far away from Toronto - please specify in the "Location and Transportation" section of this form.

In addition to the competition, students and team leaders will get the opportunity to participate in lab activities and attend various talks hosted by physics researchers and/or professors. This is an opportunity for the students to learn about current exciting research in physics and get a hands-on experience in different areas of physics in the labs at the University of Toronto.

Note that after we receive your registration form, your Team Leader will receive an email with detailed information about the competition and forms that each member of the team must complete. Only after we have received these forms and the payment has been made is the registration complete.

Make sure to read through the rules and regulations provided on the CaYPT website.

Failure to complete any of the required sections or illegible entries will lead to delays in the registration process.

For any questions or issues regarding registration, please contact the CaYPT Organizing Committee at

We look forward to receiving your team's registration!
