PROJECT NARRATIVE

1) ABOUT YOU: Where are you on your artistic journey?

What is the essence of the work you tend to create? What are the recurring themes, feelings, textures, explorations, curiosities.

*
Note: Red Eye welcomes list, poetic freeform, or paragraph response. (1-2 paragraphs)

2) CREATIVE VISION: What is the shape of it?

What do you envision the work to look, sound, or feel like? What do you feel are its foundations? Are there lived experience, technical desires or a concept etc, that is driving your curiosity?

You are welcome to respond to these loose inspirational associations: Is it? Fast, Slow, Light, Dark, Moody, Bright, Colorful, Provocative, Warm, Cool, Startling, Expansive, Funny, Intimate, or something else in your own words…

*
Note: If you are developing technique or practice in a performance context which is not tied to a particular project, how is it important for life-long practice, communal, or personal need?  (1-3 paragraphs)

3) FORMS / MOVEMENTS / LINEAGES bodies of research & work

Tell us about where you pull inspiration from. Where in space and time do you place yourself in relationship with artistic, cultural or political movements?

Which form(s), field(s), research, or movement(s) are you working within, or in conversation with, or drawing inspiration from? Are you in critical engagement with those field(s), or how are you pushing on, speaking back to, or expanding those form(s)?

*

Note: Red Eye takes an expansive view of form; we want to know what it means to you.

Note: If you identify as a culture bearer, please share with us how you are working with specific cultural threads or lineages. What is important for us to know? (1-2 paragraphs)

4) RELATING TO OTHERS

What is your creative process when you work alone? When you are in communal spaces?

How might collaboration or exchange emerge in your WIP? Which questions are you raising in your work and this project?

Note: This might involve creative process, accessibility considerations, audience engagement, etc.

What are your needs and expectations for healthy collaboration and/or what does wholesome creative exchange look and feel like for you? In what ways are your practices rooted in relational practices or ethics? Describe how you build collective and collaborative processes, whether through creative collaboration, cultivating accessibility and engagement with a time-bound community gathering such as a cohort, or an audience?

Note: If you identify as a social practice artist, please share with us how your own strategies have created meaningful connections and exchange. What is important for us to know?

(1-2 paragraphs)

In what ways have you collaborated in the community, your work, artistic cohorts, etc.?
