Team Descriptions:
1) Translation Team (Información Sin Barreras): This team is divided into two groups: the Translation Group and the Conversation Group. The Translation Group provides free translations of documents by native Spanish-speakers to NGOs, CBOs and other businesses that serve Spanish-speaking populations. They translate internal educational materials and postings created by the other teams, as well as for clients utilizing the organization’s Navigator Program. The Conversation Group offers free conversational classes and support to individuals learning English as a second language.
2) Navigation Team: This team is divided into two groups: Bilingual Navigators and Research Navigators. Bilingual Navigators provides one-on-one navigation services to English- and Spanish- speaking community members (referred to as “clients”) seeking assistance with various social services. By way of Zoom and/or phone appointments, Bilingual Navigators help clients understand the complex social services system in their areas and also assist with the translation of online web pages. They help connect clients to resources related to low-cost health care, health insurance, food assistance, housing, finances, etc. Research Navigators identify and maintain an online database of community resources, as well as organizational maps of referral networks and potential community partners. All Navigators will receive training on social services enrollment & utilization, cultural competency, and privacy & ethics.
3) Outreach Team: This team serves as the on the ground link to our target populations. They plan and host outreach events in conjunction with existing community partners as well as individual outreach events for ContraCOVID NYC to promote our services and collect names of potential clients for our Navigation Team.
4) Marketing & Education Team: This Team is divided into the Social Media & Marketing Group and the Community Education Group. The Social Media & Marketing Group is responsible for managing our social media platforms and other advertising campaigns. They post to our social media platforms and repost relevant information from our partners. Postings include infographics/educational materials, flyers for outreach materials. The goal is to develop marketing strategies to promote the organization and create awareness of what it offers. The Community Education Group conducts bilingual community workshops in conjunction with the outreach team on general social services available in NYC, mental health services, health insurance and low-cost health care options, virtual learning, and more. They also create and continuously update culturally tailored educational materials on the above topics for the community and partnering organizations. A key component of the marketing and education team is ongoing social media communication with community partners to maintain and expand referral networks.
5) Finance Team: Members of this team seek out and apply for external funding and fiscal sponsorship opportunities. They work with other internal teams to continuously determine areas of need and tailor their grant searchers & submissions accordingly.
