muralarts.org/mustardseedIn Search of the Mustard Seed is a mural project connecting Southwest Philly through workshops around healing gun violence trauma through community building, solution discussions and art-making. Philadelphia muralist Parris Stancell will take inspiration from the workshops to create a mural design that inspires change and support around the gun violence epidemic. See a sample of Parris Stancell's work above - the mural Resilience.
Your artwork may also be used as part of the mural at Richard Allen Preparatory Charter School Address: 2601 S 58th St, Philadelphia, PA 19143!
HOW DO YOU PARTICIPATE IN A ZOOM WORKSHOP?
STEP ONE: Register for a Dreamline / Mural Arts workshop! Download the free Zoom app on your phone or computer. We will email you the link and more information about the workshop before the event.
STEP TWO: Gather your supplies: unlined white paper, pencils for drafting and art making materials - markers are best! Colored pencils and crayons work in a pinch! If you're a digital artist, feel free to use those tools.
STEP THREE: Participate in the Dreamline / Mural Arts workshop! Discuss creative solutions to gun violence in our city and ways we can support each other. Create artwork or write words that inspire you.
STEP FOUR: Return artwork to one of the approved drop-off locations, through mail or digitally with a high quality phone photo. Upon receiving the completed artwork, participants will be mailed a $25 VISA gift card. One per household/registered name.
NOTES: Workshops are intergenerational and open to the family. Feel free to bring your partner, child, or partner to the session and send in multiple artworks. Don't worry if you're not an "artist"! EVERYONE has something to offer artistically! You can also write words if that feels like a better fit for you.
Sponsored by Mural Arts Philadelphia, the City of Philadelphia Office of Violence Prevention and the Bianca Nikol Roberson Memorial Foundation.
